Local Elections

  • At this week’s Annual Parish Meeting, Cllr Andrew Shirvell advised that he is standing down after over 30yr service as Chair of the Parish Council. Of the other four Cllrs, one is restanding and three other Cllrs are also stepping down at the end of their terms next month.
  • Shalden Parish Council has five Cllr roles and three Cllrs are required for the PC to be quorate.
  • Parish Councils have a mixed perception thanks to the Vicar of Dibley and You Tube videos of Jackie Weaver but it exists as the first level of government in this country; a conduit to the District Council, County Council and Parliament.
  • If you want to support the democratic process, are interested in representing your community, would like to deliver events and projects for the wider good or think your skills/experience could be of use. Please do stand for this voluntary role.
  • Nomination papers need to be returned by 4th April. More details can be found on the Shalden PC website and on the Electoral Commission website
